Having just recently reacquired the rights to our debut, self-titled 2010 album 'The Urban Folk Quartet' we were keen to get it back into print after so long unavailable on CD.
Since 2011's follow-up live album, we've made all of our albums through our in-house 'SAE' record label. When it came to reprinting this one, that meant we were keen to apply a bit of what we've learnt along the way to that first effort!
Joe took the original sound files to Andie Thomson at Gighouse Recording Studios. Andie has become our go-to engineering, mixing, and mastering guru for a while now, and with Joe overseeing, Andie weaved absolute audio magic with this remaster.
A missing disc in most newer fans' collections, even the most intimately-familiar with this album are going to enjoy the way new details and corners come into focus. The musical content itself is untouched... but the way it sounds shows it off in a whole new light.
We've got rid of the plastic jewel case, too. Now you'll find all of Kirstie Hunt's brilliant 2009 photos (plus a couple unseen in the original) presented in a glossy digipack sleeve and booklet, finished in a way that really lets them shine.
Whether for discovery or rediscovery, we're so happy 'The Urban Folk Quartet' is out there again, to be turned up loud an enjoyed in all its newly improved quality.

Tom, Frank, Paloma, and Joe - the UFQ of 2010!
